**Correction to Jr Biathlon Clinic date!

Reminder – the 1^st junior shooting clinic at Saratoga Biathlon Club is set for Sunday May 27^th. The original post said May 29^th, but this has now been corrected. Please contact Sean Halligan at sxhhoops@yahoo.com or 518-583-6132 if you are a strong Nordic skier between the ages of 14-20 with an interest in biathlon. Prior biathlon experience is not necessary and a limited number of loaner rifles will be available. We are also taking reservations for the 2^nd clinic in Old Forge on June 9^th. 2012 Junior Biathlon Development

The NYSSRA Nordic Junior Development Committee is pleased to announce that we will continue to provide clinic, training, and racing opportunities throughout the year to experienced Nordic skiers who are interested in getting involved with biathlon as their schedules permit. The goal is to get them involved early and give them opportunities to learn the sport now since the learning curve is a fairly long one. We hope to do this while keeping costs to parents as low as possible. The target audience is strong skiers between the ages 14-20, but exceptions will be considered on case by case basis.

We again plan on holding two shooting clinics this spring. We also hope to do a fall clinic and an early winter on-snow clinic if the weather cooperates. We will continue to support skiers at local races over the winter and encourage them to participate at the World Junior Team trials over the holiday break.

The first clinic this year will be a FREE one day program dedicated to biathlon shooting at the Saratoga Biathlon Club on Sunday May 27^th. We will go over proper rifle fit, position, technique & skills training with some light combination training & fun competitions. At this clinic we are pleased to announce that we will have Algis Shalna as a special guest instructor! Algis is a USBA developmental coach and an Olympic Biathlon gold medal winner! Camping opportunities are available if people are traveling and want to make it a long weekend in Saratoga.

The second clinic will be held in Old Forge NY on Saturday June 9 and it too will be free! An added bonus for this clinic is that the Polar Bear Biathlon Club will be hosting a summer biathlon (running & shooting) race the following day on 6/10 so the kids can put what they learned to the test right away!

**Space at the clinics will be limited so please call or send an email to Sean Halligan ASAP if you are interested. When doing so, please provide us with:

Name & email address & phone number.
Past experience level with Nordic skiing and biathlon.
If you have a biathlon rifle &/or have access to one you can borrow.

**Biathlon newcomers should reply ASAP as loner rifles will be limited! If you need a rifle, make sure you tell us if you are left or right handed!

Please note that we will only be sending the firm details for each program to those people who express an interest in coming, so if you are interested you have to let us know! CRNA’s first Summer Biathlon will take place at Castleton Fish & Game Protective Association this coming Sunday. The registration form is attached. We will have 4 targets in operation-2 sport and 2 match…paintball biathlon to follow

Castleton is a new venue for us with a very enthusiastic BoD and membership…we look forward to successful events and a growing relationship with the association

NY Biathlon Championship Reminder

This is just a reminder that to be eligible for NY Biathlon Chmpionships awards at the upcoming NorAms at Lake Placid, you need to meet the following criteria;
1) must have a current membership in the USBA, Biathlon Canada, or other IBU
recognized National Governing Body
2) must be current members of NYSSRA or NENSA.
3) must be a member of a New York biathlon club.
If you updated your status in any of these organizations this week, or are a member of NENSA, send me an e-mail at nickgretzinger@gmail.com. If you are not a current member in all these organizations, you can still race, but wont be eligible for the NY Championship awards.
