Results for todays ESG Sprint race can be found here – ESG Sprint Results. Course maps for the 2011 Empire State Winter Games. On Friday Junior, Senior, and Masters men will ski a 10 km sprint (3.3 km loop), while all other classes will race 7.5 km (2.5 km loop). Saturday’s race will be a relay format race (you will compete on your own, not part of a team). The list of athletes who have met the qualification criteria for the 2011 Empire State Games is online. Please note that you must be a NYSSRA member in order to compete. It’s not too late, join NYSSRA today. All athletes must pre-register by February 20th. The Empire State Winter Games are ON! Many of you may have heard that New York State cancelled the games because of budget cuts. The games have been picked and funded by the towns and villages around Lake Placid. The feel of the games will be unchanged from previous years, with all the same ceremonies New York was well represented at the Jr. / Youth World Championship team trials in Jericho VT this week. We had a total of 9 NYSSRA members compete and the results were great, both for the seasoned veterans and the newer biathletes looking to get experience at the next level. Saratoga Biathlon Club members Carly Wynn and The following message was sent out from the ESG office: It is with great regret and sadness that I must inform you of the cancellation of the 2011 Empire State Games’ programs. We have been informed that there will be no appropriation for any of the Empire State Games programs in the coming year, and The 2010 NY Biathlon Championships will be held at the Saratoga Biathlon Club this weekend. Saturday morning will feature a sprint race, and on Sunday there will be a 3 x 6 km relay. In order to compete you must pre-register through skireg.com. There will not be Day of Race registration. Registration closes The Saratoga Biathlon Club cleaned up at the 2010 Empire State Games, winning a total of 22 medals. Saratoga had 14 athletes who won at least one medal. In second place was the Syracuse Biathlon Club with three medals. Western NY Biathlon and Lake Placid Biathlon each won two medals. Saturday’s race was an individual relay, with all skiers competing on the same 6 km course. Skiers were able to use three extra rounds at each shooting stage.
